Trash, Recycling, Bulk, and Garden Debris Procedures

Trash, garden debris, and recycling collection occur weekly at Twin Rivers.

Tuesday & Friday: Trash

Wednesday: Garden Debris

Thursday: Recycling

Please place bags of trash/garden debris/recycling out before 7 a.m. on the morning of each respective collection. They may also be placed out after dark on the night before. Bags that are placed outside before dusk of the preceding evening may be subject to Trash Violation Fines.

Non-Collectible Refuse – The following items will not be picked up and are subject to fines.

  • Any materials generated by a private contractor.
  • Earth, stones, trees.
  • Hazardous chemicals such as fluorescent bulbs, pesticides, motor oil, antifreeze, or paint thinners. These items must be disposed of at Mercer County Hazardous Waste.  For information on the disposal of these hazardous chemicals, call 609-278-8086.
  • Tires, automotive parts of any kind.

Surveillance is used in the trash areas to ensure safety and compliance.  Fines are $100 for the first offense and $150 for the second offense and  $200 for subsequent offenses.  Violations that occur over the weekend are subject to doubled amounts. Loss of non-essential privileges may occur.  These include, but are not limited to, removal of parking spaces, pool privileges, and community room rental.

Bulk Trash

Bulk Pick-up is reserved for appliances, large pieces of furniture, and refuse items that do not fit in household trash bags.

Each quad will have pick-up once a month: Quad I on the first Wednesday of the month, Quad II on the second Wednesday of the month, Quad III on the third Wednesday of the month, and Quad IV on the fourth Wednesday of the month. Homeowners are limited to two (2) piles no larger than 6′ by 4′.  All items MUST be free of any jagged edges, broken glass, and/or exposed nails/ screws.

ALL MATTRESSES AND BOX SPRINGS MUST BE WRAPPED IN PLASTIC!  VIOLATORS WILL BE FINED!

You must call the Trust at 609-443-1113 to schedule your bulk pick-up.   Please note the Trust will be allowing one call per month to add items to the Bulk Pickup list. The cut off time to schedule a bulk pick up is the day before by 3:00 pm. This is necessary in order for the office to efficiently schedule staff. If you do not notify the Trust Office to schedule a bulk pick up, your items will not be collected and you will be subject to trash fines.  Contractors and vendors are REQUIRED to take away ALL bulk items and any debris when working in Twin Rivers.  

Recycling

INCLUDE – glass food, beverage jars, and bottles (clear, green & brown) aluminum food & beverage cans, steel food & beverage cans, plastic soda, water and milk bottles. Plastic detergent, shampoo & hair spray bottles (solid white or color bottles); newspapers & inserts, phone books, magazines, catalogs & “junk mail”; school, copier & computer paper, file folders, envelopes, office paper, white & colored stationary; dry food boxes, powdered detergent boxes, shoe & gift boxes and paper bags.

DO NOT INCLUDE – broken glass, light bulbs; cosmetic, medicine, or perfume bottles; dishes or drinking glasses, ceramics, decorative glass, flower pots, window or mirror glass. No aluminum foil, cooking or baking dishes; no pots pans or metal scrap, metal or plastic tools or utensils; plastic bags, paper towels, tissue or tissue paper. No Styrofoam.

Cardboard must be broken down, bundled and tied.

Garden Debris

Leaves, grass clippings, and garden debris must be bagged and weigh less than 30 pounds.  Tree and shrub branches need to be cut and tied securely in bundles that are not more than 4 feet in length and not weigh more than 30 pounds.  Garden debris is collected on Wednesday; please have any garden debris to be collected placed outside before 7 a.m.
